Penguins Make Move on Final Day; Place Second at YSU Invitational

The Youngstown State women's golf team finished second at their own YSU Invitational which concluded on a windy and rainy Tuesday at the Mill Creek Golf Club's South Course.
YSU finished with a team total of 614 following a low round of 306 on Tuesday. The Penguins carded a 308 on Monday and sat in third place behind Robert Morris and Detroit. YSU moved past Robert Morris into second, but could not catch the Titans who won the event with a 609. Robert Morris was third at 617, Walsh was fourth with a 641 and Niagara was fifth with a 646.
The top finisher for the Penguins was Sarah Heimlich who finished third with a two-round 150. Heimlich had the low round for the tournament on Tuesday with a 72. She shot 78 on Monday.
Robert Morris's Jenna Rinker surged past Detroit's Olivia Richards to win by a stroke. Rinker carded a 148 while Richards was second with a 149. Heimlich tied with Detroit's Christian Thorne for third place.
Two Penguins tied for eighth with Allison Mitzel (79-77) and Angela Molaskey (74-82) finishing with a 156. Aislynn Merling (82-76) and Emily Rohanna (77-81) each finished scores of 158 to tie for 13th place.
Individual participants for the Guins included: Sana Khan who was 22nd with a 164 (80-84), Kayla Cerimele who finished 27th with a 168 (81-87), Rebecca McGinnis who placed 28th with a 170 (79-91), Sarah Scheidemantel who carded a 172 (87-85) to place 29th and Ali DeLuco who was 34th.
Youngstown State returns to action on Sept. 24-25 at the Cleveland State Invitational, which will be held at Pine Hills in Hinckley, Ohio.
