Penguins Open Season With Second-Place Finish at Detroit

Hartland, Mich. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team finished second out of four teams at the Detroit Titans Fall Classic which concluded on Monday at the Hartland Glenn Golf Course.
The Penguins had a two-round score of 619 firing a 307 on Sunday and a 312 on Monday. Detroit won the event with a 594 while UIC was third with a 635 and Dayton was fourth at 340.
Individually, Allison Mitzel led the way with a fifth-place finish. Mitzel shot a two-round 152 (74-78) and was nine shots back. Aislynn Merling and Sarah Heimlich both tied for seventh place at 155. Merling had rounds of 74 and 81 while Heimlich carded scores of 79 and 76.
Freshman Emily Rohanna shot a 158 (80-78) to place 12th in her collegiate debut. Angela Molaskey was tied for 16th at 160 (80-80).
YSU's next tournament is Sept. 17-18 when it hosts its Fall Invitational at Mill Creek Park in Boardman.
