
Dow, Hill Win Events in Home Dual Against Ohio

The Youngstown State Swimming and Diving team competed in their first home dual meet after the break against the Ohio Bobcats at Beeghly Natatorium. The Guins were defeated 145-96, however junior Casey Hill and freshman Ashley Dow picked up event wins.
Hill led the team with a first and second place finish in the one- and three-meter dives scoring 260.77 and 261.30, respectively. Dow also finished first in the 200-yard backstroke clocking a time of 2:07.50.
Senior Kirstin Walker had a strong day individually finishing in second in both of the events she swam in, the 200 free (1:59.02) and 100 free (55.08 seconds). Sophomore Megan Ciampa also helped the team finishing in second in the 1,000 free and third the 500 free.
Junior Samantha Roberts, sophomore Laura Paz, and sophomore Brittany Vigar all finished in second place in their respective events. Roberts was second in the 200 breast (2:28.93), Paz was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly (2:11.41) and Vigar in the 500 free (5:19.91).
Sophomore Soyriah Davis captured third place in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.87 seconds while sophomore Angela Diorio earned third place in the 200-yard IM clocking 2:19.32.
In the 400-yard medley relay, YSU's tandem consisting of Dow, Roberts, Paz, and senior Audy Grubbs finished in third place with a time of 4:03.02.
The Penguins travel to Dayton to take on the Raiders of Wright State on Jan. 21 at 4:30 p.m.
