Women's Golf Sits Third, Formeck is One Shot Behind Leader at Benbow Invite

Jacksonville, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team sits ahead of five Horizon League teams and five shots off the lead after the first day of the Benbow Invitational at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.
The Penguins posted a team score of 322 on Monday, which is five strokes behind leader Houston Baptist and four strokes behind second-place Florida Atlantic. YSU leads league foes Detroit (325), Loyola (325), Butler (330), Green Bay (335) and Cleveland State (357).
On the individual level, YSU junior Samantha Formeck is one shot behind the leader after firing a first-round score of 77. Florida Atlantic's Marilyne Cadieux shot a field-best 76 in the opening round. Formeck is tied with Jessica Ngui of Houston Baptist and Nikki Miller of Loyola. YSU's Sarah Heimlich is in a five-way tie for fourth with a score of 78.
The tournament will conclude with two rounds on Tuesday.
