Samantha Formeck Third, YSU Sixth at Sunshing Spring Classic

Mims, Fla. -- Youngstown State junior golfer Samantha Formeck placed third at the Sunshine Spring Classic hosted by Detroit. The Penguins placed sixth out of 16 teams at the event, which concluded on Saturday afternoon.
Formeck carded a two-round score of 157 following rounds of 79 and 78. She finished seven strokes out of first.
In the team race, the Penguins were sixth with a score of 673 (338-335). Lehigh was first with a 658.
Senior Katie Rogner finished 15th with a 165 (82-83).
Other finishers for YSU included Angela Molaskey who had a 175, Sarah Heimlich who carded a 176 and Sarah Scheidemantel who fired a 192.
The Penguins return to action on Monday when they open play at the Don Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler. The event is being held in Jacksonville, Fla.
