
Solid Swimming Performances Give YSU Sixth Place Finish

Radford, Va. -- The Youngstown State Swimming and Diving team finished in sixth place out of 10 teams on Saturday afternoon at the Highlander Invitational scoring 345 points.
YSU had its best swimming performances of the three-day meet on Saturday at the Dedmon Center Natatorium.
Laura Paz, sophomore, came in third place in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.21. She was the highest swimming-event finisher during the meet for the Penguins.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, junior Sam Roberts finished in fifth place (2:27.91). Sophomore Megan Ciampa took sixth place in the 1,650 free with a time of 18:04.02.
Freshman Ashley Dow captured eighth place in the 200-yard backstroke clocking 2:11.62. She was less than a second short of seventh. Senior Kirstin Walker swam her way to seventh place in the 100-yard free finishing in 54.37 seconds.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Guins finished in sixth place clocking a time of 3:42.38. The team consisted of Walker, freshman Chelsea Malone, senior Audy Grubbs and sophomore Soyriah Davis.
The Penguins next meet is on the road at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.
