Heimlich, Penguins Rally to Earn Title at Colonial Classic

Hopewell Township, Pa. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team overcame a four-shot deficit to win while Sarah Heimlich rallied from five strokes down to earn medalist honors at the 2011 Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport RMU Colonial Classic which concluded on Tuesday.
The Penguins won the team title on the strength of a tournament-low 335 on Tuesday. YSU carded a two-round total of 677 to beat Laval by 10 strokes while Niagara was third, 13 shots back.
Heimlich was in second place following the opening round with an 80 - five shots behind round one leader Sarah Roe of Mount St. Mary's. On Tuesday, Heimlich shot a 77 and her two-round total of 157 won the tournament by four shots over Niagara's Natalie Wisiewski.
Joining Heimlich in the top five was freshman Aislynn Merling who tied for fourth with two other golfers at 166. Merling had rounds of 85 and 81 in the event.
Allison Mitzel was 10th with a two-round score of 173 (83-90), Angela Molaskey was 25th with a 181 (94-87), Sarah Scheidemantel and Ali DeLuca tied for 34th place with a 188.
The Penguins' final competition of the fall is set for Oct. 17-17 and the Akron Zippy Invitational.
