Penguins Compete at BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate

The Youngstown State men's golf team competed at the John Piper Intercollegiate on Monday, Sept. 27 at the Stone Ridge Golf Course in Bowling Green, Ohio.
The Penguins finished 11th out of 12 teams at the Invite with a two-round score of 622 (300-322). Bowling Green took the crown at their home tournament with a solid score of 580 for the two-round tournament which was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather. The teams were on the course Tuesday before the final round of play was canceled.
YSU was in sixth place following the opening round before falling off late in the day on Monday.
Spenser Sulzener paced the Penguins firing (74-73) which was tied for eighth overall with a 147. Drew Preston of Bowling Green won medalist honors shooting a two-round total of 139 (70-69).
Anthony Conn shot a 156 (73-83), Michael Lower posted a 157 (75-82) while freshman Mark Olbrych scored a 162 (78-89) and freshman Shane Wilson rounded out the Penguins with a 167 (78-89).
Youngstown State will compete at the Cleveland State Invitational on Oct. 4-5.
