Penguins Conclude Second Day of Action at Radford

Radford, Va. -- The Youngstown State swimming and diving team is in second place after the second day of competition at the Radford Highlander Invitational. The Penguins had six individual top six finishes in Friday night's finals.
The Penguins have 546.5 points and trail just Georgia Southern in team race. The Eagles lead with 662 points while Campbell is third with 402.5 points.
On Friday, sophomore Sam Roberts again helped lead the way with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.65. Roberts was also fifth in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:47.12.
Kirstin Walker was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.43 while teammate Audy Grubbs was sixth at 2:00.09.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Nishani Cicilson placed sixth with a time of 59.94 seconds while freshman Laura Paz was seventh at 1:00.02.
Cicilson also placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.28.
In the relays, YSU's top squad was fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.56 and placed fifth in the 800 free relay with a time of 8:08.82.
Action resumes on Saturday with the prelims in the morning and the finals set for 2 p.m.
