A graduate of nearby Jackson Milton High School (class of 1966), Rusty MacDonald left his mark on the Penguin golf program by winning 59 dual meets, a record that still stands today. Playing for head coach Bill Carson from 1967 to 1970, the squad posted a 69-13-2 overall ledger including an 18-0-1 mark his senior season. As the captain of the team during both his junior and senior campaigns, he brought added recognition to the Penguin golf program when he captured on three separate occasions the Ohio State Lefthanded Links Championship (he won them in 1968, 1969 and 1970). He was also a runner up on six other occasions. His best rounds were a 68 and 69 on the Avalon Golf Course during his senior campaign.
