A local product from nearby Chaney High School, Mike Roman was a two way performer on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football, blocking for two record setting quarterbacks in Denny Klembara and Ron Jaworski in the late ‘60s, and hauling down enemy runners from the defensive side of the football. Head coach Dike Beede remarked, “Mike Roman is probably the most dependable tackler that I have ever coached.” That statement goes a long way because Beede coached his share of class acts during his long coaching career. He lettered for four seasons from 1967 to 1970, and is one of nine with a direct local tie to this year’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
