Currently an Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education at Youngstown State University, Joyce Ramsey made her mark in Lady Penguin Athletics as the first coach of the women's basketball program. Her overall 91-33 record from 1975-76 to 1981-82 is the best ever compiled in the women's sport, while her .705 winning percentage for those seven seasons is top as well. She helped produce a Penguin Hall of Famer, Wanda Grant, who took her place in the YSU Athletics Hall of Fame last season. Under Ramsey's tutelage, Grant became the school's all time leading scorer when she graduated in 1982 (her record has since been broken by Dorothy Bowers) with 1,829 career points. Ramsey also coached the Lady Penguin volleyball squad for two seasons to a 13-14-0 overall record.
