One of the toughest football players inch for inch to ever suit up for a Dike Beede coached team, he quarterbacked the Penguins to an 18-8-0 overall record during his three-year stay from 1953 to 1955. In addition to passing and running opponents ragged on the gridiron, he also kicked extra points as a triple threat for “Beede’s Boys.” One of the more memorable games in Penguin gridiron history came with Beck at the helm of a 34-32 victory over Great Lakes in 1954. All Beck did was run for a touchdown, pass for a touchdown, and kick an extra point to insure the Penguin win.
