Donna Djorovic is the best shot blocker in Youngstown State women's basketball history.
Djorovic, who was a center for the Penguins from 1989-1993, finished her career with 196 blocked shots, over 70 more than any other Penguin in school history. She holds three of the top five blocked shots seasons in school history.
She ranks 18th at YSU in career scoring with 915 points. She finished her career grabbing an impressive 616 rebounds. In her 102 game career, she scored in double figures 44 times, had 23 double digit rebound games and 19 double doubles.
In her four seasons, she attempted 941 field goals converting 373 of her attempts. From the free throw line she was 169 of 258 for a percentage of 65.5 percent.
As a senior in 1992-93, Djorovic helped YSU be very competitive in its first year in the Mid-Continent Conference. She started all 28 games for YSU, which finished 17-11 overall.
Djorovic was a second team All Mid-Con pick and later in the year was named to the Mid-Con's All Tournament team. In two tournament games against Cleveland State and UW-Green Bay she combined for 40 points and 19 rebounds. She had a career best 28 against the Vikings in the opening round. To cap off her year, she was chosen as The Vindicator YSU Female Athlete of the Year for 1993.
For the year, she grabbed 282 rebounds, averaging 10.1 per contest while scoring 380 points, averaging 13.4 per game. She also smashed the school record for blocked shots with 85.
She had 21 double figure scoring games and 15 double digit rebound games altogether recording 12 double doubles. Against top ranked Tennessee she scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked a school record 10 shots.
As a junior, she played in 26 games starting 21 contests. She scored 268 points, averaging 10.3 per game and grabbed 176 rebounds for a 6.8 average. She also had 40 blocked shots on the year. Djorovic tallied 11 double figure games, had three double digit rebound games and three double doubles.
In 1990-91 during her sophomore year, she played in all 28 games while making seven starts as YSU finished with a 24-4 record. She scored 212 points averaging 7.6 per contest, grabbed 181 rebounds averaging 7.6 per game and had 49 blocked shots. She finished with 11 double figure scoring games, had five double digit rebound games and four double doubles.
As a freshman in 1989-90, she played in 20 games starting one contest. She scored 55 points and grabbed 77 rebounds.
Djorovic earned her Psychology degree from Youngstown State. She is an office manager for Thomas Printing and a Mental Health Associate at Forum Health. She enjoyed working with troubled youths in trying to better their lives.
A graduate of Norton High School in Norton, OH, she was named to the Akron Beacon Journal Prep Honor Roll eight times. She was a first team all league selection as a senior.
