Playing for head coach Dike Beede from 1968 to 1971, the team’s gridiron success (they posted a 7-27-0 overall mark) was a mere shadow of the success that quarterback Denny Klembara enjoyed. Eighteen seasons have passed but Klembara’s 403 yards of total offense against Pensacola Navy on October 12, 1968 is still a Penguin record. His 391 yards passing on that same day is still a Penguin single game standard while he ranks first in seven passing categories, and is still in the top five in a total of 16 passing and total offense categories.
