Currently playing in the National Football League, Cliff Stoudt gained fame on the Penguin campus by leading the Penguins to their very first post-season play-off appearance in 1974 when they met the University of Delaware in the first round of the Division II football play-offs. A native of Oberlin, Ohio, he still ranks in the top-10 in eight offensive categories, holding down the number one slot in total offense for a career with 5,459 total yards. He is second in most passing yards for a career, gaining 4,387 yards through the air during his four-year stay at Youngstown State. A four-year letterman and a four-year starter, he played from 1973-1976. Professionally, he owns three Super Bowl rings as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, has played in the United States Football League with the Birmingham Stallions, and is currently in his second season with the St. Louis Cardinals.
