With the induction of Bob Ferranti into this year's Hall of Fame, it will mark the first time in the six year history of the Athletics' Honor Roll that a brother combination will enter the Hall of Fame. He joins brother Jim (class of 1989) as the only brothers to take their place amongst athletic elite, yet if it wasn't for Bob setting the records, brother Jim might not have had anything to shoot for during his stellar career from 1976 to 1979. Bob played for the Penguins from 1969 to 1972, the receiving end of passes that came from the arm of Hall of Famer and 16 year NFL veteran Ron Jaworski. The receiving marks were set by Hall of Famer Dave DelSignore (class of 1987) broken by Bob, then stood until brother Jim came along. The Penguins posted just an 8-25-1 overall mark, but the games were filled with plenty of excitement as the Jaworski to Ferranti tandem thrilled every fan in attendance. He still ranks third in career passes caught (130) and career receiving yardage (2,163) ranking sixth in passes caught in a season (24). He earned a BS in Biology/Pre-Med degree in 1973, returning to earn his Secondary Education degree the following year. Formerly the head football coach at South Range high school (he posted a 28-12 overall mark with two ICL runners up finishes), he is currently the freshman football coach at Boardman high school. Bob is married to the former Barb Douglas. They reside in Boardman, OH and have 3 children: Michael (age 10) and twin girls, Corinne and Rebecca (age 6).
