Youngstown State University

When you speak of the golf program at Youngstown State University, the name Bill Carson goes right along with it as he nurtured it in its infancy, and developed it into a program that was feared by opponents nationally. As the second coach ever of the golf program, Carson coached for 27 seasons, posting a 351-107-15 ledger, a sparkling .758 winning percentage, the highest of any Penguin coach with more than 10 years in any one sport at Youngstown State. During his entire 27 years, while they competed in many tournaments, his overall coaching record includes just dual meets. Carson also produced several All-Americans as well as two undefeated teams (1962 and 1970).
