Warren, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's golf team holds a four-shot lead and five Penguins are in the top 10 individually following the first round of the YSU Spring Invitational on Sunday at Avalon Lakes Golf Course.
The Penguins posted team score of 302 in Sunday's opening round to carry a four-stroke advantage into Monday's second and final session. Akron recorded a 306 to sit in second place while Bucknell is third after notching a first-round 313.
Neeranuch Prajunpanich, Lizzie Saur and Titita Loudtragulngam each fired a three-over-par 75 in the opening round on Sunday to sit tied for second place heading into the final round of play. Akron's Abbi Fleiner holds a two-stroke lead after carding a one-over-par 73 on Sunday.
Prajunpanich carded 13 pars and a birdie on the par-five No. 11 while Saur recorded 13 pars and a birdie on the par-three No. 8. Loudtragulngam's opening round featured 13 pars and a birdie on the par-five No. 3.
Danae Rugola and Adena Rugola are tied for seventh after each turned in a first-round 77. Danae Rugola's first round included 11 pars and a pair of birdies while Adena Rugola's opening session featured 12 pars and a birdie on the par-five No. 3.
Chaela Barnett is tied for 20th after an opening-round 82 while Kelly Hutton is 36th after a first-round 95.
