The Youngstown State women's golf team is tied for third place following the first round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Monday at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.

The Penguins' Red Team posted a first-round team score of 306 on Monday to sit nine strokes off the lead. Akron fired a 297 to hold the first-round lead while Cleveland State is in second place with a 302. Detroit Mercy is tied for third with YSU after carding a 306 in the opening session. Evansville rounds out the top five after recording a first-round 308.

Youngstown State's White Team is in 11th place after posting a first-round team score of 327.

Individually, Danae Rugola is tied for third place after firing a one-over-par 73 on Monday. The junior will be four strokes off the lead at the start of play on Tuesday. Western Michigan's Haley Barclay holds the lead after shooting a three-under-par 69 on Monday. Akron's Abbie Pearce sits in second place after posting a one-under-par 71 in the first round.

Christina Lewis is tied for 14th after carding a first-round 76. Tori Utrup and Lizzie Saur are tied for 20th as each recorded a first-round 77.

Madie Smithco and Ally St. Clair each carded a first-round 80 to tie for 35th. Britney Jonda posted a first-round 81 to tie for 42nd. Jenna Vivo shot a first-round 84 while Kelly Hutton recorded an 89 in her first collegiate round.

Tomorrow's second and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
