Women's Tennis Falls to UIC, 7-0

    Chicago, Ill.-- The Youngstown State dropped a 7-0 decision to Horizon League foe UIC  on Sunday morning at the Flames Courts. The Flames swept the doubles and the singles competition for its second 7-0 win in league match-ups this season.

    Anna Volkova lost a hard-fought battle in the No. 1 spot against Ilinca Cristescu. Volkova won the first set 7-5, but fell 6-3 and then 10-8 in the tie-breaker set. UIC claimed the other five singles matches in straight sets.

    In doubles action, Volkova teamed up with Tanisha Welch at No. 1 doubles to face Lubica Nadasska and Kristen McPhillips. The pair fell 8-5 while Emily Thayer and Kelly Culbertson lost 8-1 in the No. 2 spot and Michelle Fuleky and Hannah Patten lost 8-1 at No. 3.

     The Penguins will return home on Friday to play Green Bay. Match time is set for 8:15 p.m. at the YSU tennis courts.
