Women's Tennis
Edges Milwaukee for Second Straight

Ohio-- The Youngstown State
women's tennis defeated the
Milwaukee Panthers, 6-1, in its
second straight Horizon League win
of the season. The team now improves
to 2-3 in league play.
The Penguins
took the early lead by winning at
No. 2 and 3 doubles. Kelly
Culbertson and Emily Thayer teamed
up at No. 2 doubles for 8-6 win
while Michelle Fuleky and Hannah
Patten won 9-7 in the third spot.
In singles,
Anna Volkova won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1.
Tanisha Welch beat Martina Schnapp,
6-2, 6-0. Irena Lanc won her match
in the No. 4 spot due to injury.
Culbertson and Patten also won their
matches 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1 to
help secure the victory. The
Panthers lone point came with the
6-3, 6-0 win at the No. 3
spot.
The Penguins
will be back in action on Saturday
at the YSU tennis courts to host
Wright State. Match time is set for
Noon. |
