Penguins Win 2018 Home Debut Against Niagara

Boardman - The Youngstown State women's tennis team defeated Niagara 7-0 on Friday at the Boardman Tennis Center in the home opener for the Penguins.

YSU came out strong winning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The Penguins won all six singles matches against the Purple Eagles, taking five in straight sets.

In doubles play, Noelly Longi Nsimba and Tamara Teufl won at No. 1 by a score of 6-1 while at No. 3 Ana Stroe and Anastasiia Khoklova picked up a 6-2 win.

In singles play, Nsimba was victorious 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1, Khokhlova won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, at No. 4, Teufl picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory, Cassandra Moraleja earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 while Ana Stroe cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6. Sofia Macias was pushed to three sets against Andrea Peteu, but won her match 6-3, 4-6, 10-3.

The Penguins are in action tomorrow at the Boardman Tennis Center against Bucknell. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
