The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays host to first-place Cleveland State in a key Horizon League contest on Saturday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. The contest is the final home match for seniors Nehel Sahni and Dominika Lackova.
First serve for the clash between teams with a combined 11-1 Horizon League record is set for approximately 6 p.m. The match will start after the conclusion of the YSU-CSU men's tennis match which begins at 3 p.m.
The Penguins (11-8 and 5-1) have won five straight league matches and are a match back of the Vikings (12-8 and 6-0). Each team has three league matches remaining. Next weekend the pair head to Wisconsin for duals against Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Sahni and Lackova joined the program at the same time in January 2013 form halfway across the world. The pair have combined for 107 career singles victories during their YSU careers. They have been part of three Horizon League Tournament Championship teams, three NCAA Regional teams and one conference regular-season champion.
Sahni owns a career record of 56-41 and is 46-27 in dual matches. She ranks sixth in school history in career victories and owns the school career record with 26 wins at No. 5 singles. She has also won 32 doubles matches, 26 of which have come during the dual campaign.
Lackova owns a career mark of 61-50 and is 47-29 in dual matches. She ranks fourth in school history in career victories and has won at least eight contests at four different spots in the lineup and has a winning record at Nos. 1-4. She is the only player in school history to accomplish those marks. She is one of just two to win at least 10 at three spots in the lineup. She has won 48 doubles matches, 38 of which have come during the dual campaign. Her 48 doubles wins are third most in school history.
