Penguins Drop 7-0 Decision to UIC

Chicago, Ill. -- The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to UIC on Sunday afternoon at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.

At No. 1 singles, Marta Burak lost a hard-fought 7-6 (3), 6-4 decision to Mariya Kovaleva while Lauren Hankle lost 7-5, 6-4 to Teona Tsertsvadze at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3, Carolyn Jesko dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Haley Craig, at No. 4, Gimena Puppo lost 6-1, 6-1 to Elisa Simonetti and at No. 5, Jennifer Moore lost 6-0, 6-1 to Jana Knoppe.

At No. 1 doubles, Burak and Jesko dropped an 8-7 (2) decision.

The Penguins fall to 1-15 overall and 1-5 in the Horizon League while the Flames improve to 13-3 and 6-0. UIC has won 139 straight dual matches in Horizon Leauge action.

YSU returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Wright State.
