YSU Drops 7-0 Decision to Stetson

DeLand, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Stetson on Wednesday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

With the loss, YSU falls to 0-8 on the year while Stetson improves to 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, senior Lauren Hankle was strong in the second set. After dropping the opener 6-1 to Shannon Gunning, she rebounded before dropping it 6-4.

At No. 1, Marta Burak lost 6-2, 6-0 to Sara Lazarevic, at No. 3, Carolyn Jesko lost 6-1, 6-0 to Clarke Tatje and at No. 4, Gimena Puppo suffered a 6-0, 6-0 setback to Diana Bukajeva.

In doubles play, YSU dropped a hard-fought 8-7 at No. 1 as Jesko and Burak lost to Tatje and Lazarevic.

The Penguins return home to face Pittsburgh next Wednesday at Noon.
