YSU Places Fifth; Merling Ninth at Richmond Intercollegiate
Midlothian, Va. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team placed fifth at the Richmond Intercollegiate as freshman Aislynn Merling led the way while placing ninth at the 54-hole event.
The Penguins carded a three-round total of 964 following a round of 326 on Tuesday. YSU had rounds of 320 and 318 on Monday. St. John's won the event finishing with a 911 while Georgetown was second, Richmond was third and Lehigh placed fifth.
Merling tied for ninth with a 231 after rounds of 76, 75 and 80 during the event. Allison Mitzel was 17th with a 234 firing rounds of 76, 78 and 80; Sarah Heimlich finished 45th with a 246, Angela Molaskey was 59th with a 253 and Sana Khan finished with a 271.
The Penguins return to action on April 9-10 when they compete in the Niagara Invitational.
