The Youngstown State cross country and track and field programs have enjoyed 18 conference championships since 1994. Starting with the 1994 men's cross country championship, the Penguins captured eight Mid-Continent Conference titles in a four-year span. Included in that dominating run was a sweep of the cross country, indoor and outdoor crowns by the men's team during the 1996-97 academic year. The women's track and field team put together a similar string of dominance in the Horizon League by winning five out of six titles from 2004-06.
