Parham Wins, Pompeo Takes Second on Day One
Wauwatosa, Wis. - Youngstown State sophomore Jessica Parham won her second Horizon League championship in the event on Friday during day one action of the Horizon League Championships at the Krauss-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletics Complex.
Parham had a toss of 40.12 meters in the event to win by .11 over Milwaukee's Shelby Schaal. YSU's Melanie Prelec finished fifth with a throw of 36.05 meters. For the men, Kyle Seaver placed third in the javelin with a throw of 50.60 meters.
In the final event of the night, Anna Pompeo was second in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36.46.07 while freshman Katey Heney was seventh.
After two completed events, the women are in first place with 20 points while Loyola is second with 18. For the men, YSU is fifth with seven points while Loyola is out in front with 20 points.
On Saturday, finals for the hammer throw, pole vault, long jump, hepthalon and decathlon and steeplechase will be held.
