Penguins Win Third Straight Beating St. Bonaventure

Olean, N.Y. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team won its third straight dual and fourth in its last five with a 7-0 over St. Bonaventure on Sunday afternoon.

YSU (5-6) won two of three doubles matches to earn the point. At No. 3, Danylo Veremeichuk and Thomas De Negri picked up a 6-2 win while Joao Garretto and Vasilis Vardakis earned a 7-6 (2) win at No. 1.

In singles play, YSU won five of six matches in straight sets.

At No. 1, Veremeichuk won 7-6, 6-4 against Victor Blanco. Vardakis defeated Hector Martinez 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 at No. 2. Bassem El Mekawi won 6-1, 6-1 over Ante Zovko at No. 3. Yossi Dahan won 6-3, 6-1 over Lukas Linden Malmberg at No. 4. At No. 5, Alonso Lauz beat John Rutkowski 7-5, 6-2. De Negri earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Darrel Harxhi.

The Penguins are next in action on March 3 when they visit Pomona-Pitzer in California.
