Men's Tennis Eases Past Saint Francis, 7-0

Monroeville, Pa. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 7-0 win over Saint Francis on Friday afternoon at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.

The Penguins (4-6) won a hard-fought doubles point and won three of the six singles matches in three sets.

In singles play, Joao Garretto, Danylo Veremeichuk and Matthew Kritzinger won in three sets. At No. 1, Garretto won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Veremiechuk dropped his first set 7-5 before rallying for a 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Kritzinger won 6-2, 1-6, 10-8 at No. 5. Vasilis Vardakis, Bassem El Mekawi and Yossi Dahan each won in straight sets. Vardakis won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3, El Mekawi won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 and Dahan picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Penguins are next in action on Sunday when they play at St. Bonaventure. First serve is set for noon.
