Brennan's Goal Lifts Soccer to Shutout of Saint Francis (Pa.), 1-0

Loretto, Pa. -- Forward Lauren Brennan scored a goal for YSU just three minutes into the second half which proved to be the game winning score in the Penguins first win of the season. YSU's defense held the Red Flash for the remainder of the game to claim the 1-0 shut-out.

The Guins opened the first half with five shots, including two shots on goal. Carrie Wack and Jodi Bowlen made the shots that were saved. YSU's defense only allowed Saint Francis to take one shot on goal in the first half as both teams entered the half tied at 0-0.

Brennan quickly changed the course of the game in favor of the Penguins with her goal on the breakaway at 48:15. The goal marked Brennan's first goal of the season.

Head Coach Anthony James was very pleased with how the team played.

"They worked very hard the last couple of games. Tonight we put together a good performance to get the win," said James.

Goalkeeper Mariah Snyder stopped all three of St. Francis shots in the second half and finished with four saves for the game.

YSU will be back in action on Sunday afternoon on the road against Howard. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
