Brennan's Goal
Lifts Soccer to Shutout of Saint
Francis (Pa.), 1-0
Loretto,
Pa. -- Forward Lauren Brennan
scored a goal for YSU just three
minutes into the second half which
proved to be the game winning score
in the Penguins first win of the
season. YSU's defense held the Red
Flash for the remainder of the game to claim the 1-0
shut-out.
The Guins
opened the first half with five
shots, including two shots on goal.
Carrie Wack and Jodi Bowlen made the
shots that were saved. YSU's defense
only allowed Saint Francis to take one
shot on goal in the first half as
both teams entered the half tied at
0-0.
Brennan
quickly changed the course of the
game in favor of the Penguins with
her goal on the breakaway at 48:15.
The goal marked Brennan's first goal
of the season.
Head Coach
Anthony James was very pleased with
how the team played.
"They worked
very hard the last couple of games.
Tonight we put together a good
performance to get the win," said
James.
Goalkeeper
Mariah Snyder stopped all three of
St. Francis shots in the second half
and finished with four saves for the
game.
YSU will be
back in action on Sunday afternoon
on the road against Howard. Game
time is set for 1 p.m. |
