Brennan's Goal
Lifts Soccer Past IPFW 1-0 For Third
Shutout Of The Season
Fort Wayne,
Ind. -- The YSU soccer team
picked up its third win and third
shutout of the season against IPFW
on Sunday afternoon. Lauren
Brennan's goal at 47:59 proved to be
the gaming winning score in the
Penguins 1-0 victory over the
Mastodons.
Head Coach Anthony
James said the team dominated the
game both offensively and
defensively.
"This was a
good win for us. I feel that we are
ready to move back into league play
on Friday," said James.
Offensively
for the Guins, Jordan Gapczynski
took a total of six shots including
two on goal. Roechelle Boone made
three shots while Jodi Bowlen and
Brennan each took two shots.
It was
Brennan's shot at less than three
minutes into the second half that
put YSU on the board. Brennan
capitalized on a pass from Keeley
Rice and broke throw IPFW's defense
to score her second goal of the
season.
The Mastadons
made several attempts to tie the
match, but all shots on goal were
saved by goalkeeper Mariah Snyder.
Snyder now ties the school record
for most shutouts in a season with
three.
YSU will
return home to host Green Bay on
