Women’s Golf: Formeck and Penguins Finish Fourth at Zippy Invitational

  Following three rounds and a fourth place finish by freshman Samantha Formeck, the Youngstown State women's golf team finished fourth at the inaugural Zippy Invitational at Rosemont Country Club on Tuesday.

    As a team the Penguins carded a three round total of 966 (321-317-328) at the event. In front of the Guins were Eastern Michigan in first, host Akron in second, and Ball State in third.

    Formeck continues her strong collegiate fall season as she shot a 231 (75-79-77), one stroke behind second place and 11 behind the medalist. In her first two collegiate events, Formeck took medalist honors at the Bucknell Invitational and second place at the YSU Invitational behind teammate Katie Rogner.

    Rogner a sophomore, finished in 21st at the event after shooting a 243 (78-83-82).  One spot behind Rogner was senior Mollie Boney who finished in 22nd after firing a three-round total of 244 (83-79-82).

    In 26th was junior Ann Ciavarella after firing a 249 (85-77-87).  Junior Brittany Stillwagon shot a 255 (85-82-88) at the event, finishing in 40th.

    The women will return to action on Monday when they travel to Detroit to participate in the Detroit Titan Invitational at Western Golf and Country Club.
