Men’s Golf: Penguins Claim Ninth at CSU Telich Life Financial Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio. -- The Youngstown State men’s golf team finished in ninth place after completing the three-round Cleveland State Telich Sun Life Financial Invitational at Sand Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Penguins as a team carded an event total of 906 (304-291-311). The event was won by South Dakota State who had a three-round total of 870 (287-290-293).

Along with YSU, five other Horizon League schools competed in the event. Host Cleveland State finished in third. Detroit finished in sixth, followed by Loyola in seventh. Behind YSU in 10th was Wright State, then Butler who finished the event in 11th.

The top finisher for the Penguins was junior Tim Morrow who finished the event in 24th after firing a 225 (77-73-75). Redshirt freshman Joey Santisi shot a 228 (76-72-80), finishing in 35th. One stroke behind Santisi was sophomore Spenser Sulzener who finished in 55th after shooting a 232 (75-74-83).

Junior Shawn Deppe shot a three-round total of 231 (76-78-77), which was good for 48th. Sophomore Spenser Sulzener finished in 55th place after firing a 232 (75-74-83).

The men will return to the links on Sunday when they compete in the St. Bonaventure Leo Keenan Invitational at Bartlett Country Club in Olean, New York.
