Football: Williams,
Lykes-Knight, Nowicki Named HBK
Players of the Game vs. SUU
Youngstown – Senior
wide receiver Ferlando Williams,
senior defensive tackle Bobby Lykes-Knight
and junior punter Ben Nowicki were named the Hill Barth &
King Players of the Game for their
performances against Southern Utah, the
coaching staff announced on Tuesday.
Williams was named the HBK Offensive Player of the Game for
his efforts during the game. Against
the Thunderbirds he lineup up at
quarterback, wide receiver and
tailback during the game. Williams
caught four passes for 61 yards and
had 22 yards rushing on nine
attempts. He was also the HBK
Offensive Player of the Game against
South Dakota State and Liberty.
Lykes-Knight was named the HBK
Defensive Player of the Game against
the Thunderbirds. He was credited
with three tackles, including two
solo stops. Lykes-Knight was
previously named the Defensive
Player of the Game against Central
State.
Nowicki was named the HBK Special Teams Player of the Game
following the best game of his YSU
career. Nowicki had five punts for
an average of 48.4 yards in the
contest. He had boots of 47, 36, 49,
44 and 66 in the contest. The
66-yarder was the longest kick for a
Penguin since Joe Bishop's 67-yard
kick at Pittsburgh in 2005.
Sophomore right tackle Bobby Coates was named the Jim Zdelar
Offensive Lineman of the Game.
Coates played all 74 offensive snaps
finishing with a grade of 78 from
the coaching staff. He was also
named Offensive Lineman of the Game
against Central State.
Sophomore linebacker Jordan Edwards was the Jermaine Hopkins
Defensive Lineman of the Game.
Edwards had four tackles in the
contest, including three solos. One
stop was a three-yard sack.
Earning scout-team honors for their play during the week was
sophomore center Tyler Figueroa
(offense), redshirt freshman
linebacker Michael Kreastoulas
(defense) and freshman safety David
Fleming (special teams).
Lykes-Knight was also the recipient of the Wachovia
Leadership Award.
Earning Haines Family Player-of-the-Game honors from the YSU
radio broadcast crew of Bob Hannon,
Dick Hartzell, Dave Sess and Mike
Orto was sophomore safety Brandian
Ross. Ross tied for team-high honors
with seven total tackles, including
four solo stops.
The Penguins (2-4 overall and 1-1 in
the Missouri Valley Football
Conference) return to league action
this Saturday when they visit
Missouri State. Kickoff for the
contest at Plaster Field is set for
2:30 p.m. Eastern/1:30 p.m. Central
Time. The contest is the Bears'
Homecoming game. NewsRadio 570 WKBN

at 2 p.m.
