Football: Summers,
Lykes-Knight, Wilson Named HBK
Players of the Game vs. CSU
Youngstown -- Junior
quarterback Brandon Summers, senior
defensive tackle Bobby-Lykes Knight
and senior corner/punt returner
De'Angelo Wilson were named the Hill
Barth &
King Players of the Game for their
performances against Central State, the
coaching staff announced on Tuesday.
Summers earned the HBK Offensive Player-of-the-Game honor in
his first start at quarterback.
Against Central State, he completed
6-of-8 passes for 101 yards and two
touchdowns.
Lykes-Knight earned the HBK
Offensive Player-of-the-Game
accolade making his first start on
the defensive line. Against the
Marauders he had four total tackles,
including one for a loss. Lykes-Knight
played 45 snaps last Saturday
earning a 91 percent grade.
Wilson was named the HBK Special
Teams Player of the Game. He
returned a punt 39 yards for a
touchdown and had five returns for
95 yards in the contest. He had a
38-yarder that set up the Guins'
final touchdown of the afternoon.
For his efforts, Wilson was also
named the Missouri Valley Football
Conference Special Teams Player of
the Week.
Sophomore right tackle Bobby Coates was named the Jim Zdelar
Offensive Lineman of the Game while
junior defensive end Jaimie Frasure
was picked as the Jermaine Hopkins
Defensive Lineman of the Game.
Earning scout team honors for their work during the week
leading up to the game were freshman
quarterback Dailyn Campbell
(offense), junior linebacker Draye
Ersery (defense) and freshman free
safety David Fleming (special
teams).
Senior cornerback Jarvis Richards
was the recipient of the W.O.W./Derek
Pixley Hit of the Week and was
selected to receive the Wachovia
Leadership Award.
Junior punter Ben Nowicki was named the Haines Family Player
of the Game by the YSU radio
broadcast crew. Nowicki had three
punts on Saturday for an average of
44.0 yards per kick, including two
punts downed inside the 10-yard
line.
The Penguins dropped one spot from
23rd to 24th in the FCS Coaches Poll
and dropped out of the Sports
Network poll following the win over
CSU.
North Dakota State is ranked second in the coaches poll and
third in The Sports Network Poll.
Kickoff for Saturday's game at Stambaugh Stadium is set for 6
p.m.
