Academics: Twenty-Five Athletes Earn 4.0 GPA
During 2006 Spring Semester

An impressive 25 Youngstown State
student-athletes posted a 4.0
grade-point average for the 2006
Spring semester while a group of 163
posted grade-point averages of 3.0
or higher, Associate Director
of Athletics Elaine Jacobs announced
on Wednesday.
The 25 student-athletes who posted perfect GPAs in the spring
were: Lauren Branson (basketball),
Megan Bricker (softball), Emily
Cicero (track and field/cross
country), Jarrod Davis (track and
field), Mike Evans (golf), Jessica
Fraley (volleyball), Michelle Fuleky
(tennis), Aaliyah Gillespie (track
and field), Matt Gnacinski
(baseball), Greg Jacobs (football),
Irena Lanc (tennis), Hannah Lawther
(soccer), Tony Limongi (football),
Kira Mowen (basketball), Tiffany
Patteson (softball), Bob Perez
(football), Kelly Reese (diving),
Nicole Robenolt (track and field),
Todd Rowan (football), Ashlee Russo
(basketball), Erin Sayre (swimming),
Ryan Sellman (baseball) Drew Weizer
(track and field), Katy Williams
(track and field) and Josh Zarlenga
(golf).
The YSU women's tennis team led
all squads with a team
grade-point-average of 3.36 while
women’s golf finished second with a
3.22. The cross country squad posted
the highest grade-point average
among the men's programs posting a
3.13 GPA as a group.
Overall, 163 of Youngstown State student-athletes, or
52 percent, earned a semester
grade-point-average of 3.00 or
