Football Starts Spring Drills on Sunny Wednesday |

The Youngstown State football team opened Spring
Football Practice on a near perfect day at Stambaugh Stadium on Wednesday
afternoon. The group worked out with great intensity for new Head Coach Eric
Wolford and his staff. Coach and his staff emphasized the fact that the first
workout will not only set the tone for the spring, but the entire 2010 campaign.

The Youngstown State softball
team (5-8) opens the home slate of the 2010 schedule when it hosts Saint
Francis (Pa.) (3-9) in a non-league doubleheader, Thursday, March 18, at
McCune Park. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. The Penguins also visit
Dayton (6-9), Saturday, March 20, at 1 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio.

| Women's Tennis Comes Up Just

The Youngstown State women's tennis team lost a hard-fought 4-3 dual to
Pittsburgh at the Youngstown State Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
YSU’s Lauren Hankle pulled out a 7-5,
6-3 victory over Adela Aprodu at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles Anna
Volkova came back to beat Shannon Benic 4-6, 6-1, 11-9. Tanisha Welch
pulled through topping Gabrielle Cantanzariti 6-4, 7-5.

Formeck Earns League Honors for Second Consecutive
Week

For the second time in as many weeks, the Horizon League has announced that Youngstown State sophomore golfer Samantha Formeck has
been tabbed the Horizon League Female Golfer of the Week following her
runner-up performance at the NIU Snowbird.
Formeck led the Penguins to a second-place finish at the
event by shooting a two-round total of 155 (80-75).

Pittsburgh, Pa. --
Pittsburgh scored 13 runs in the final two innings to overcome an 11-2
deficit and steal a 15-11 victory from the Youngstown State baseball
team on Wednesday at Trees Field.
The Penguins led 11-2 through the top of the seventh inning,
but Pittsburgh scored 10 runs in the seventh and three times in the
